Konstantina Tzavidopoulou
Konstantina Tzavidopoulou’s work is a „letter“ to those who have been before written in a script not yet deciphered.
The artist was inspired by Linear B and Linear A inscriptions which reflect the wealth of Mycenaean palaces in the Peloponnese. The adventures of their residents – Nestor, Helen, Menelaus and many others – are narrated by Homer in his great epic poems.
Homer describes a beautiful and dexterous woman as “a good weaver”.
Although Konstantina Tzavidopoulou does not use her loom that often anymore, she still remains a “good weaver.” She twists the past with the future, tradition with observation, imagination with experience. “I am inspired by prehistoric engravings, mythology, religious offerings and votives and I try to communicate these ideas through the materials I use”, she says.

Tzavidopoulou, a former bank manager, designs a second career in art jewellery after her retirement.
