The Mixed Salad Installation, presented in 2006 at the art space basso in Berlin, explored the garden as a site of both nourishment and recreation. Housed in a wood-and-cardboard structure, the vegetable “mini-lab” cultivated salad and herb seedlings while offering a tangible experience of the growth process.
Through an automated system of timed lighting and watering, the installation simulated an autonomous biological cycle over six weeks, culminating in the harvest and shared consumption of a mixed salad.
