Moebling explores the relationship between the human body and objects — more specifically, between the individual, furniture, and household items.
The Moebling project (2010–2019) includes self-portraits taken in locations where the artist lived, both permanently and temporarily; public and video performances; ephemeral sculptures; and participatory actions involving improvisational theater and domestic objects.
The pun Moebling (German Möbel = furniture) references the plethora of neologisms associated with wellness, spirituality, and the culture of self-optimization. In this context, Moebling becomes a playful form of kinetic meditation at home.
My advice, as a Moebling expert, is simple: transform your sofa, table, chairs, carpet — or even your vacuum cleaner — into Moebling equipment!
